---------------------------------- SAN Gateway and SAN Router Firmware Version: 3.42.12 Revision History: See v0342.12.txt ---------------------------------- Release Notes: *Data Path Protection This firmware change has a new Data Path Protection feature. The Data Path Protection firmware is intended to provide a method for confirming the integrity of the data path through the SAN Data Gateway. This test uses pattern data moved through various memory interfaces to insure that all data paths into and out of command processing memory and data flow memory (DDF) are correctly functional. For detailed information on data path errors generated with this new level of firmware, use the "2108 G07/R03 Firmware and 2108 G07 Extended DDF Memory Testing Testing" document located at website: http://www.storage.ibm.com/hardsoft/products/sangateway/support/ cdr/Firmware/sdgfw.htm. * Ethernet Loopback Diagnostic If you boot the SAN Gateway in diagnostic mode, and attempt to run the Ethernet loopback test (elTest), a message will be displayed indicating that the Ethernet loopback test is not avaliable. This test will remain disabled until further notice. During the absence of the Ethernet loopback test, in normal boot mode you can verify that the Ethernet port is operational by connecting it to a LAN and see if the SAN Gateway responds to a "ping". * User Accounts Invalid After Firmware Update If firmware version 3.41.31 or lower was running when user accounts were created for the purpose of accessing the command-line interface via Ethernet, and the firmware was subsequently updated to version 3.41.32 or higher, user accounts are no longer valid and you won't be able to log in. This is due to an operating system update that changed password encryption. Use the following procedure to delete and re-add the user accounts: 1. Connect to the service port and start a terminal emulation session. 2. Delete the password file by issuing the rm "MGMT/PASSWD" command. 3. Issue the reboot command. 4. Re-add the user accounts using the userAdd "username","password" command as documented in the Service Port Command Reference. Note: If an older version of firmware is subsequently installed, this same procedure will need to be followed before you can log in. Known Issues ------------ None at present
