
                             xscreensaver

1. Description

  xscreensaver is an X-Windows based application program to display
  pretty pictures on the users screen when it is not in use.  The
  xscreensaver program waits until the keyboard and mouse have been idle
  for a period, and then runs a graphics demo chosen at random.  It turns
  off as soon as there is any mouse or keyboard activity.
  

2. Specified Operating Environment

  2.1 Machine Requirements

 IBM RISC 6000 systems and PowerSeries equipped to run AIXwindows or
 an IBM Xstation running AIXwindows. xscreensaver may require
 specific adapters and features to fully utilize all available
 function. See application documentation for specific details,
 limitations, and recommendations.

  2.2 Programming Requirements

  AIX Operating system version 3.2.5             (5756-030)
    and
  AIXwindows                                     (5601-257)
    or
  AIX Operating system  version 4.1              (5756-393)


3. Installing

  3.1 Download the compressed tar file xscreensaver.tar.Z

  3.2 Issue the following command:

           zcat xscreensaver.tar.Z | tar xf -


4. Running

  4.1 Run startSaver to start the screen saver

  4.2 Run stopSaver to stop the screen saver


5. Availabilty

   The latest version of xscreensaver can be obtained via anonymous FTP
   from service.software.ibm.com. The complete url is:
