Problem Description

APAR IY99799 resolves a problem with some fibre channel attached storage
subsystems that can result in failure to open the storage or varyon
volume groups.


Prerequisites
-------------
APAR IY99799 applies to AIX 5.3 with the 5300-06 Technology Level and
Service Pack 1.  To determine if the required level is installed, use
the command:

  oslevel -s

The output should indicate "5300-06-01".


Installation
------------
- Download IY99799.tar in binary format to an empty directory on the
  target system, and use the following command to extract the files.

    tar -xvf IY99799.tar

- Install the updates by running the command 'smitty update_all' as
  root, specifying the directory in which you unpacked the files in
  the previous step as the "INPUT device / directory for software"
  field.

- You must reboot the system for the updates to take effect.
